It was great being a part of this set.

Seagull Party

Here is my second sketch. These first two have been quite rough as I’ve done them late and rushed through them. I will attempt to spend more time and do better quality as the month continues.

Dragon Eating Cake

For my series of sketches in the month of May I decided to get ideas from my fiance’. “What is the first thing that comes to mind”, I asked her. “A dragon eating cake”, she says. Thus, I give you… A dragon eating cake.

Tomorrow I get to draw A Seagull Party. That should be interesting.

The month of May

I have a lot going on this Month!

I’ll be doing my Batizado this coming weekend. The following weekend I’ll be going to my fathers wedding and I plan to get filming underway for several skits. I’m in talks to work on a handful of music videos too. But there is one thing that has been missing in my life for a very long time. Sketching. I used to draw constantly and sort of lost a taste for it towards the end of high school. I’ve only dabbled with the pen on paper since and I feel I need to return to my roots. So, for the month of May I plan on doing a sketch a day; scanning and posting them here on my blog. I’m hoping that by doing this I will learn to love doing it again and possibly find some work doing illustrations somewhere too.

Salem Shoot

Just got back from a shoot in Salem. This is the second part of a shoot with Charisse Tooze. While on location I was thinking about how I want to film something that is unrelated to other projects that I have in my boiling pot. I’m not too sure as to what yet, but I think I’m about to hit the page again soon and try to write something up. It’ll likely be a short film, but the visuals I’m getting in my head are quite dynamic. There would be a lot of After Effects work involved. We’ll see what I bleed on the page.

Leading to the Batizado

Coming up in the first weekend of May I have my first Batizado. This is an event where new students get ushered into the group with a chance to earn the first belt and continuing students advance. Ihave some studying to do before then. I need to make sure that I know the eight Bimba sequences and be able to sing along with a handful of songs. This, as far as I’m aware, is what will get me my belt.

Below is the flyer that I helped design.

Sex Bots video still

About two weeks back I was the DP for The Sex Bots, ‘Come on Daddy’ music video.

Here are a few screen shots.

The video is still being edited and is coming along nicely.

Thanks to everyone who helped out, especially Jeff Scott Taylor for his second camera, lights and other equipment.

Video coming soon.

On the horizon

Next Monday I will be shooting as the DP for the sexbots music video ‘Come on Daddy’. I will be doing editing work and some SFX work too. This is bound to be an interesting experience.

Sometime soon, as the weather clears, I will be DP for another music video for the band ‘The Hugs’. I believe I will be editing this piece too.

Hopefully in early April I will shoot the first of two music videos for my brother. The first will be a very simple shoot with little going on, but will be an explosion of interesting things as I have fun with it in After Effects. The second video will be a little more involved but will be more than worth the time it will take to put together. The story is in place and everything else is under consideration. This video will be very fun to do.

The comedy show ‘Caution Tape’ that I’ve been working on for the last year is getting ready to begin pre-production work for the first couple skits. I’m very happy that this is finally happening. As the skits are finished I will be editing them and then holding onto them until we have an episode of material ready to go. At that point we will unleash it on the world and see what happens. We held an open casting call and had some amazing response. Now it’s time to get stuff done!

My New Challenge

Now that I’ve completed writing Zombie Ass Slappers I’m coursing with the bug to write. I’ve been feeling it profoundly. Over the years I’ve filled my head with numerous ideas for which I’ve never done anything more than talk about. I figured, the time is now. Although my job is by no means glamorous, especially during the Fall and Winter months, it does afford me ample time to work on scripts. Acknowledging this fact is forcing me to push myself. To challenge myself, if you will! So, I’ve begun working on a new script. It’s a comedy. The basic plot is, two best friends start a band with aspirations of becoming the biggest band ever! The idea of this came from a dream I had. It was very vivid and I believe I woke up giggling at the imagery. My challenge to myself is to try and write a rough draft in 30 days. That’s roughly 90 pages in 30 days. I tried starting this last week but could not get past the opening. I got hung up on the first joke. So today, the 16th of November, I started writing. On the 15th of December I will share what I’ve written with a select few friends. Upon getting feedback I will comb the script to do a revision and hope to have a working rough draft of my second script this year.I’ve already written about 8 pages today. I may call it a day and pick it back up Thursday as I have to work a different job tomorrow.

On a side note. Last night at capoeira I learned the first of the Bimba’s Sequences. There are eight of the sequences all together. They were designed to help new students learn how to combine movements, respond to their partner and feel comfortable playing capoeira. It’s a nice feeling being able to combine these movements while getting a better understanding of how to properly execute them as well as how to flow into other movements from them. I had a lot of fun training last night and learning songs in a language I don’t understand yet. I’m a big fan of learning.

  • Paul Anderson

Loving what you do is the ultimate goal in life and when I get a project that I can really bite my teeth into, I feel like I'm going in the right direction.

Art is a vast monster and I've never been able to set my focus on one particular avenue, so I dabble in many different fields. My current favorites are video manipulate with After Effects and manipulation of photographs via Photoshop and After Effects.

  • What Clients Say:

"Paul is a rare find these days. He is truly passionate about media of all kinds, and it shows in the quality of his work. He would be a major asset to the production team of any film studio and his After-Effects skills are noteworthy. I am happy to have hired him for several projects, and plan on using his services in the future."
